What happened to the people who died before Jesus died for our sins?

Okay, so Jesus died to save us from our sins. What about the people who sinned and died before Jesus died? Did everyone use to go to Hell?

He died for everyones sins. that means past and present. but i think if yo believed that he was the messiah then you went to heaven. but before Jesus was even sent to earth, the people then just get judged on their character and if they believed in God.

According to Geneses 7:1 Noah and his crew were the only ones in God's hands.

Why don't you concentrate on where you are going to end up. You cannot change the past, so why waste your time with it?

Stick with the RED LETTERS of the New Testament and don't let RELIGION con you with the other letters to get you out of what Jesus tells you to do.

    Examples:Matthew 15:7-9, Luke 14:26 & Acts 17:24 and other verses.

Don't change a WORD or I will see you across the chasm in HELL.

Since John the Baptist died before Jesus did, Matt.11:11 says that "the lest one in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than John the Baptist". This does not mean that John the Baptist will not be resurrected, he will be, not not in heaven. Please read Palms 37:9,10,29; 104:5; Isaiah 45:18; 55:11 then Genesis 1:28; 2:15.

Was Jesus not there before? After every doomsday, no records of human existence remain. In every eon there would be a Jesus, and there is someone who questions, "what happened to the people who died before Jesus died...". There have been number of 'Jesus'es for every eon that passed by. And Jesus arrives again after every doomsday. Jesus resurrects as he wishes. He is Omnipotent. He preexists, before you think of his past. He descends when you think of him coming. Jesus never dies. HE is there forever. He takes the form of a human since we humans can't understand beyond the languages that we know.

  • Believers before Christ came were mostly all of Israel: the Jews. There were some Gentile proselytes that lived with the Jews, as the Jews lived. Before Christ came, these people of God were justified by the Law of Moses, through sacrifices, which were made by a high priest for each individual, to atone for their sins, with the blood of an innocent animal.

Back then, as today, there were different beliefs within the Jews religious leadership. The Pharisees believed that there was life after death, and believed in angels of God, and the resurrection of believers one day. The Sadducees, on the other hand, did not believe in life after death, or in angels, or a resurrection. They were not completely unified in their religious beliefs.

These things that the Jews under the Mosaic Law were required to do are no longer necessary, since the cross of Christ became the payment for ALL sins of those that will just believe in Him and His finished work on the cross for their sins. This is the message of the Gospel of the Grace of God, which Satan fights against so strongly. This unadulterated message of grace which Satan hates. Add works. Add confirmation. Add sacraments. Add anything that humans can DO in addition to the perfected work of Christ, and Satan is happy. He has accomplished this in so many religious circles all over the world............ it is so sad. One simply needs to believe............

Do you think that God is that unloving that he will allow innocent people in those days go to hell? What of Abraham? The bible says Abraham was Gods friend. What of Moses? Noah? and the list goes on. All of them died before Jesus. So no they are not in hell. God is not like that.

But where are they? This article can answer your question.

I believe He died for everyones sins. Everyone who ever lived or will live... Jesus also helped people learn to live in more harmony with God and with eachother, I wish more people would practice what He taught (love and self sacrifice and forgiveness) but I know it's hard for them because everyone has to be right about all the details and see eye to eye... sadly. If Jesus didnt die for our sins or because of our sins I'd still love Him the same.

    No Nikki,

Those that have passed on have had to be reincarnated to work off their mistakes (karma) and do the things they were meant to do, among other things. The spirit world is not really a fixed place where all souls head to in the same direction. Some will "rest at Peace" until Revaluation time.

I really don't know but it's my guess. Best wishes, no worries over the souls that have crossed over, there is a purpose and reason for everything. God exsisted before Jesus walked. We are His children, way back in cave man times, to now and for eternity.

    Blessings, Light & Love.

they are sleeping in dead waiting the time Jesus will bring them back from dead.

Acts 24:15 and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

JESUS CHRIST spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14)

Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams.

Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.—1 Corinthians 15:6.

First of all, learn the meaning of Hell. This is from Wikipedia.

    """Biblical words translated as "Hell".

[Sheol ] In the King James Bible, the Old Testament term Sheol is translated as "Hell" 31 times.

However, Sheol was translated as "the grave" 31 other times.

Sheol is also translated as "the pit" three times.

Modern translations, however, do not translate Sheol as "Hell" at all, instead rendering it "the grave," "the pit," or "death.""""

So HELL= the grave, the pit, death.

Jesus equated death to being asleep.

"John 11:11-14 "' Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but i am journeying there to awaken him from sleep'....Jesus said to them outspokenly: 'Lazarus has died.'"

The humans that lived before Jesus are in the grave/hell, "asleep in death", either in the earth or the sea. And most will be raised back to life during the 1000 year Kingdom Government of Jesus

Jesus was sent to earth by Jehovah to give his life as a "RANSOM" for all humans.

[Matthew 20:28 - Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his soul/life, a RANSOM in exchange for many]

Jesus being willing to give his perfect human life as a ransom is really the greatest expression of Jehovah’s love for you.

    [John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.}

It gives you the hope of everlasting life on a paradise earth.

“The wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23.

All future blessings, are made possible because Jesus died for us.

This priceless gift, benefits even those who died 1000's of years before Jesus came to the earth
