How is medical marijuana legal in California? Doesn't Federal law trump it?

    Yes federal law trumps it, in other words federal police officers can arrest you while the state police officers will follow the state laws.

    Federal law does have supremacy over any state law. If a federal agent was to catch you with marijuana in California, you would be arrested regardless of whether it is for "medical" purposes or not.

    The States are allowed to pass their own laws concerning marijuana
