Which is your favorite Star Wars or Star Trek ?

I like both, but prefer Star Wars

Star Wars

Star Trek, hands down. I like the Star Wars movies, but Star Trek is so much better. The plot of Star Wars is astounding and the work they put into those six movies is certainly nothing to scoff at, but I can't identify with the Star Wars characters. I will admit that Star Trek has an upper hand here because it is a TV series (well 5 of them to be exact, 6 counting the animated series) so it had more time to develop it's characters and places.

Star Trek spent several episodes a season exploring the characters and that makes it much better than Star Wars. Star Trek's characters aren't just heroes, they are people doing heroic things, going above and beyond the call of duty. Another advantage for Star Trek, is it adressed the issues of the time it was written in. I also love the fact that Star Trek is supposed to be our future, not 'a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...'

In Star Wars, they are heroes and we just have to accept that, we don't really know their backgrounds, and we don't know them personally. We just see them in this role of hero or villian and we have to acept that at face value.

I am not trying to say that either franchise is bad, but that I just get more out of Star Trek than I do Star Wars. George Lucas is a brilliant director and does great work, but Gene Roddenberry gave us something more than just sci-fi, he gave us a dynamic and changing universe of characters and aleins that we can really get to know and love.
