question about caliper?
I have a 2002 dodge dakota and when i replaced the caliper the threads(it looked like a spring) came out of the part that the upper slider pin goes into. what is the name of the assembly the caliper bolts into and how can i fix it.

The caliper is bolted onto knuckle, because you're truck doesn't have a caliper bracket. This can be an expensive part to replace, so I would look into having the threads repaired, either cleaned or replaced with a heely coil, (I don't think I spelled that right...) But it's basically replaceable threads in a kit.

This is a repair that I recommend you take to an experienced technician.
I suspect that the hole needs to be drilled out, re-tapped for a heli-coil and a threaded insert locked into place.
This is your brake system - it's not something that you want repaired haphazardly.
