My TV doesn't work without an antenna, even after the DTV switch thing?
And yes, I am positive it's an HD-TV.
All this time I have had to watch channel 13-1, rather than just 13. Channel 30-1, Etc. So, today I decided that would probably stop if I unscrewed the antenna, which I did... and now the TV doesn't get any channels at all. Every screen is just black. Any idea what's going on?
Again, I'd like to repeat, I am 100% positive it's an HD-TV... so, it should be working. Oh, and the brand is Vizio if that helps any.
Any help appreciated. I need my regular dose of Jimmy Kimmel, so I'd like to have it fixed before the weekend is over :]
Celing: Damn! My life so sucks right now, I didn't know that. Thanks for your answer :] Much appreciated.
Uggggh, typo....

How great is our government that it sold us out to digital television which made a fortune for makers of digital televisions and their accessories, including the required antennas, which you already know about? The good news: This digital broadcasting allows you to receive multiple channels, e.g. 13-1, 13-2, (which is PBS Kids) and 13-3 where you could only get 13 before. The TV guide still corresponds only to the #-1 station while there are as yet no listings for -2, -3, -4 so suck that up, GF. Bad news: Some stations you used to get will not come in and there's nothing you can do about it. I can no longer get channel 11 and the FCC guy suggested getting cable. He didn't know if my local congressman and senator got donations from them or not. On the other hand, now I can get three Korean channels and the government can chanrge more to broadcasters, television manufacturers make out by selling new TVs and broadcasters can generate more advertising revenue by showing recycled crud in the -2, -3 stations. People who are frustrated move over to cable/dish and those companies make out as well. It's just the consumer that gets it up the poop chute here... as always. I love Jimmy Kimmel too!

All TV's need an antenna of some sort... and the DTV switchover did not change that. Take a look at the back of your TV and you will see this.

Hi Cassie
You still need an aerial for HDTV.
It'll probably work better in Manchester though. Everything seems better there.
