How do i become an actor, at 14?

I am 14 years old, and i want to become an actor for disney channel or nickelodeon, i live in Jacksonville,Florida so there are'nt many oppotunities here like there are in California and other places, i have no experiene in acting publicly, never done a thing, but i know im good, i sing and act all the time in my room.

Also what is a resumeand an Agent, and how do i get it.

What do i do next?

Update:

i know some people are going to say take acting classes in high school and blah blah blah but by the time i get out ill be an adult not a 14 year old TEEN actress, i wanna be like hannah montana she had no experience in high school she was only 11, when she started.

And like carly on icarly she had her big break when she was 5 and started singing and dancing at the table that her family was eating at, and an agent just happen to be eating there, all the people on disney and nickelodeon these days seem to be actresses by luck of an agent being around at the right time. Guess its just like that in California, agents everywhere, but im in jacksonville, Florida.

    Teen actresses start very young.

And I think you need to get in classes.

You WILL NOT be able to get in movies without a resume

    or experience.

In your room there is not an audience...

    My advice:

    Get in classes.

If you seriously want to be a teen actor and can not wait until your an adult (roles dont just come like that) then you don't have the drive.

When you are a REAL actor, in heart, mind and body, you don't care when your big break comes.

So, get started now, but don't expect to get famous yet.

Also, I take issue with the fact that your parents would do all the work.

You can't sign for an agent OR role until you are 18

Source(s): also- when you sing do you sing through your nose? DONT. I have been singing since I was six years old, I have worked with over 7 different trainers, so get to work

Essentially what Xswiffy said was right, I just want to address the agent thing. I'm 15 and I've had an agent for several years. What you need to do is find an agent nearby you and try and make an appointment. They'll most likely have you do a cold read and they'll talk to you about the business. If you're good, they might choose to represent you. The agent is the one who sends your pictures to casting directors and finds roles, they will receive a certain percentage of everything you make. You will also need to hire a photographer (ask your agent for recommendations) to take pictures that your agent can use. After your agent finds work, you have to go to an audition and try out, along with tons of other people. You are all competing for the role. Then, it's just a matter of waiting to hear from the director to see if you have to go back for another round of auditions, if you got the job, or if you're just not what they need.

And you say you have only acted and sung in your room and you know you're good. No offense or anything, but you might only be good to you. And there is the whole issue of stage fright. So yes, you do need to take acting classes in school, you are not going to find the magical train that takes you to stardom, okay? And raw talent isn't everything. You need to develop the skills and practice constantly, and ask other actors who know what they're talking about (classmates in an acting class for instance) for advice. You also need to have the drive, be willing to work for it. Good luck hun.

Umm, okay, you might want to think about this a little more carefully. First of all, you've never acted in public? Maybe try drama club before you start advertising yourself for Disney Channel (which by the way is an awful corporation that ruins peoples' lives, not to mention its sexist attitude towards both men and women, and the occasional racial slurs it demonstrates for the children of today to absorb into their newly forming minds), because acting in public is a lot different than acting in your own room. For one: stage fright!

If you are still serious about becoming an actor after you try it for real, I would suggest making videos of yourself acting on YouTube (maybe short funny videos with friends) and practice, practice, practice. Be in any type of drama thing you can find, whether it's a club or a class or a summer camp.

    To answer your other questions:

a resume is basically a sheet of paper where you explain "this is why you should hire me", listing your accomplishments in the area and your talents and such.

an agent is someone who helps you get a job. No idea how you get one, sorry. It helps if you know someone, like a parent of a friend, or a family member, who's in the show business. Ask them if they know how to get an agent.

    Good luck!

P.S. Hannah Montana only got famous because of her dad so don't get your hopes up for someone to just randomly "discover" you.

Well, everyone has some experience. You have to get out in the community, audition for community shows, take local classed. You can't just go out there and thinking your good, becuase you'll get shot down. For TV shows they generally look at your Resume and headshot, so if you can't put any experience on your resume, its not going to look good and the casting directors wont want to waist their time.

The most important thing to get jobs in the film industry is connections. Doing community shows will get you connections. Last year I was involved with a show. I live in a rural area, and it turned out that the lead had been the star of a couple of big movies.

Finally, you want to go for nickelodeon or Disney. You'll be broke and jobless by 20, those stars never ammount to anything honorable.

Figure out what kind of acting you want to do and see what gigs are within reasonable distance from where you live. If nothing else start off with drama and maybe even choir.
