I have a puppy too. There is many really good dog foods out there. First of all make sure it is suited for puppies. Then check if its suitable for the breed of dog. My puppy only likes chicken and turkey flavours. So ur puppy might only like certain flaves too. Pedigree chum puppy is great. Puppies love it. Hope it helps x Good luck with puppy!

At 11 months old their skeletal frame is about full grown (large breeds will take another year to grow into that frame though) and you can start switching to adult food. As for the best food, most experts and reviewers will point out Orijen is the best bar none (grain free and top notch ingredients), but it is also the most expensive. You will get the most bang for your buck with Kirkland brand dog food from Costco (quality ingrediants and made by Diamond Pet Food, the same people who make Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul and now Canidae).

Ok I am glad that you asked rather than just feeding your dog crap. First of all stay away from any food that has corn in it. Corn is a filler and dogs are allergic to it. Foods that are bad and have corn in them are like Iams, Beneful and Pedigree. Another thing that you should try to avoid is feeding your dog foods with chicken and beef in them because many people do not know that these are allergens to dogs as well. If you have noticed all of the above crappy foods are usually flavored with chicken or beef (and it's not decent meat either, they use meat by-products which means bones, beaks, feathers, stuff they swept off the floor etc.) and they are completely over used. Any food that has meat by-products on the label should be left on the shelf to rot. Also another tip for bad ingredients the amount of the crap depends on what order it is on the label. Corn is usually first because it is filler and they put more corn than anything else in the food except preservatives. Meat by-products is typically second. Now if corn is in the first three things on the label, do not buy it. You shouldn't even buy the food if it has corn in it, but if you have to stick with that advice. Now if you want better foods than look at something like these: Fromm, Solid Gold, Eagle Pak, Timberwolf, Neutro ( although I am not quite a fan of that food because of the tainted food recalls that have happened more frequently) Canaday (I think I completely butchered that name, sorry) etc. These foods are great because they have actual meat in them and hardly or no fillers at all. Also because of the common allergy from beef and chicken, many of these holistic foods do not come in these flavors. Now because your dog is a puppy you want to choose one of these food's puppy lines because puppies need more protein than older dogs. Many people just don't understand that feeding your dog some cheap crappy food like Sprout from fleetfarm is very bad and can actually cause many medical problems (ex. itching, nasty and greasy looking coat, ear infections etc.). Your dog will seem to enjoy bad food because it tastes good, but is not good for them at all. It is similar to feeding them fast food every day. Now if you feed good food from the start you can have a much healthier dog. Also I must advise you to not change foods very quickly because it will irritate it's stomach. Gradually add the new food in with the one that you are currently feeding until you are completely feeding the new one.It is however okay to switch flavors within the same brand of food if you want to try a new one. Hope this helps! P.S. do not ask your vet about what food to feed. they will tell you to feed whatever food they are told to plug. In fact vets have about a week maximum of nutrition training and usually don't know what they are talking about when it comes to food. If you told your vet that you were feeding sprout or pedigree they would be like "ok!"

When making decisions about your dogs health and diet it is best to discuss those things with your Vet.
What is a good food for one dog may not necessarily be good for another.
Dogs should be fed twice daily.
Find out your dogs optimal weight and check it to keep them fit.
Wysong foods is a good company. But check with your vet.
Edit: do your homework. Go to local pet food suppliers (not the big chains) Independents stores. Ask questions!! Search the internet for natural and human consumable dog foods. Then talk to your vet. Ask about the different brands. If your vet is not willing to discuss food options with you find a new vet.
Dogs are carnivores. They need to eat meat. Chicken MEAT and BEEF are good for them. Any food that lists meat by-products is not.

Pet stores sell Nutro Natural Choice puppy food. We feed it to my puppy, and he loves it. It's about the same price as other puppy foods, but is completely natural.

Innova Evo, Wellness, Eagle Pack, Canidae, Merrick, Azmira, Blue Buffalo
Please avoid - Science Diet, Purina, Beneful, Iams, Etc. , they are really bad for dogs (full with fillers, corn, and fake meat -- no nutrition)
