How much should a 5'2, 13 yr. old girl weigh?
I don't know if I should really be concerned, but my niece is very, very thin. She is 13 and is 5 feet, 2 inches tall. I was wondering what the average weight for someone that height and age should be because I am starting to worry about her health.

In a seriousness, maybe a bit. But 80 to 90 is sorta light. My sister is 13 an she's a runner and quite fit and weighs almost exactly 100. And she's skinny. SO normal is really probably like 100 to 110 or 120 or so.

Well it's supposedly around 100 to 120 or 130 pounds or something, but that's just bull.
Being healthy doesn't always mean being "not too thin" or "not too fat". Everyone's body is different and acts differently to food, so your main concern shouldn't be the actual number of pounds but her eating and exercising habits. Is she getting three healthy meals a day? Does she exercise at least four times a week or at least gets out of the house a little? Does she sleep enough? Trust me, I'm 5"4 and weigh probably less than a feather, and I eat more than almost all my friends (I'm talking healthy meals with deserts and junk food here and there). I've gotten lots of grief about being "anorexic" or something and it just makes me sad to see how some people focus so much on "outer health" and can't seem to remember that teens' bodies are in a growing process and that skinny people have feelings too.
I know I sound overly defensive, I just have experience in this field. Just keep an eye on her but don't over-analyze everything. Hope this helps!

Don't worry too much. A few years back, I was around that height and very very skinny and underweight. Do you know your niece's weight? Maybe she just looks very light, but actually weighs normal. I'm like that. I think the average weight for someone with a height like her and an age like her is probably in the 90's. She will probably get better later. You should try talking to her and ask if she has an eating disorder. Tell her to eat healthy foods and exercise a lot.
Hope this helps.

You might be surprised how thin or heavy you could be, and still be at a healthy weight. I am actually that height and age, and I am about 110 pounds. In my sources I have a BMI calculator that I like to use for questions like this. It tells me that that the healthy weight for this age and height would be as low as 86 pounds, and as much as 127 pounds.

According to the national Body Mass Index, a 5'2" tall person should not weigh less than 100 lbs, or over 140 lbs.

Does she eat well? If so, does she sneak away after meals, perhaps to vomit? Do you find empty laxative containers in her wastebasket? Any of those things would be a sign of an eating disorder, but kids can also be skinny at that age because they are very active and/or they just finished a growth spurt. She could also be experiencing hyperthyroid. Unfortunately, her weight isn't a definitive measure of any of these things. You need to talk to her parents and talk to her.

Roughly 8-9 stone is a healthy weight in correlation with your height. Your age may also have a further effect on that so I'm not sure.

Whoever said less than 100 is wrong. Around 110. Add 5 pounds for ever inch over 5 foot.

I don't know... I'm 5' 10" and I weigh 130, so probably for your niece: 90- 120lbs.

It really depends. Can you see her bones? Do you think she has an eating disorder? I was also very thin for my age, even though I ate a lot. It might just be a fast metabolism.
