I need to extend my speakers RCA cable. How do I get the best out of my speakers with extra cables?

I'm planning to get Logitech x 540 speakers for my computer and i want it around my room for surround sound but unfortunately the speaker wire is too short. Some people said they extend it by buying a female-male RCA cable but I'm not sure if that will lower the quality of the sound.

Question is: will extending the cable reduce the sound quality of the speakers or no. and what cables would be best to get the best sound out of it. thanks in advance :)

I've done the same thing with my computer to make use of the surround sound speakers. I used two RCA couplers (double female ends) and 2 (very thin) 25-foot RCA mono cables I had from who knows when... (to be honest I think they may have originally been used for video 15+ years ago).

I have had it that way for 8 years now and I never noticed any problems with interference or loss of audio quality.

This and with other applications I have extended audio cables with RCA couplers quite frequently (I have at least 20 RCA couplers lying around or being used.. I've used them for audio, video, and even component) and thought nothing of it. I guess I can compare it to running 50foot of speaker wire which has very minimal shielding.. it's basically the same thing.

So, after all that typing, the answer to your question is:

You do not have to worry about it, and can use whatever kind of audio cable you have lying around to send that mono speaker signal to your surround sound speakers.

Easy go by another length of speaker wire like a 50'.
