Do the people who do this annoy you too?

It can get frustrating when you are truely looking for an outsiders opinion on the name you have in question. But then again, that is where brainstorming comes into play and I'm sure that is how a lot of names are finally agreed on.

If I don't want any extra ideas, I always add towards the bottom: these names only; no other names; etc. That is when people generally understand you are not open for other suggestions.

i completely agree and they do it a lot, it is a waste of their time really and mine, it doesn't help anybody and im sure not going to pick them as best answer when they have completely ignored the Q so why bother. i also hate when people answer: "You shouldn't be asking strangers on the internet for baby names" eerrr hello whats this section called again???? if you don't like it go fly a kite :D

its fun to hear what people think (when they are helpful) because maybe there is a problem with the name you have chosen like he could get bullied easy because of it and its something you missed but someone can help you see so you can make a more informed decision

I think it's because people don't like the name Bella Isis (or whatever the name in question is) and want to offer a similar alternative which they find better.

Some people do just answer randomly though.

I don't ask questions on here very often, because I'm not having a baby (but I do occasionally ask about my name, family names, names for stories etc.) but it does annoy me to see it. If someone wants suggestions, they'll ask for them lol. But some people just want the 2 points! lol

Absolutely! I can't stand it when they say exactly that. I try to key people into my style, I like classic names, etc. to try to get them on the same page as me to get an answer that matches my needs. Try to be more specific in the description. Even though it is sad that we have to remind people to be nice and all of that. Some people on Yahoo Answers just don't have a clue!

I'm guilty of suggesting a different spelling, and I'll occasionally say something along the lines of "I dislike Blaire, but I really like Claire". I don't start talking about a totally different name, though.

yes; and I hate the uber-long ones that they just copy and paste and its something like "I think you can find your answer here" and then give you some ridiculously irrelevant website for shoes or something like that and give their feedback about the quality of the shoes and how they like the product and the service and all that jazz....

If I suggest a different, it is very similar, like Brielle to Briella or Elisa to Elise! Or I tell them to change the spelling, if they have something completely ridiculous like Vyctoryah, I will tell them to spell it Victoria. But yeah the completely off the wall names, If your not going to be helpful, don't answer at all! If I ask "do you like the name Callie Breanne" and they respond " I LOVE the name Willow Rose!" I wouldn't mind if they said "I like Calista better than Callie, because Callie sounds like a nickname" or "I like Brianna better than Breanne" or "Breanne Callie sounds better". I would rather them tell me the name is ridiculously horrid and that they feel bad for my child than to give me a stupid answer like "I LOVE the name Willow Rose"

i dont know why people even ask about names really. if you like it use it, total strangers you will most likely never see in your life shouldnt have influence over wheather you choose a name or not. kinda a pointless question really when your asking about names.

No. You should be open for new ideas. If it annoys you so much, make it clear that you don't want suggestions. But still, its okay for people to tell you what they like, you tell them what you like so why not respond. I agree if they only reply with what they like and not answer your question, then thats just stupid! haha

I never seem to get that when I ask questions like this, but no it doesn't bother me, I think they say the name they like because they think its relevant to the question 'you like this, I like that' kind of thing.
