What is the name of the herb/weed that serves as an opiate receptor enhancer?
My family was talking about weed that was Japanese in origin and brought over. It is incredibly invasive and has rapidly spread through south Louisiana. They said that if you took it drinking one beer would make you feel like you had drank a sixxer. I ask because i have a friend who's looking to reduce her methadone dose and it's herbal and potentially safe.

You could be talking about kratom - it acts on the same receptors as opiates and is frequently used as an opiate/methadone alternative. It's actually native to Thailand but it sounds like the same thing. I've written a blog post about kratom, its pharmacology and uses, having bought some and found it very effective for pain relief myself. I know others who have used it for pain relief when they don't want to get hooked on codeine (I think that's Vicodin in the US) and people who've used it to help with withdrawal symptoms from heroin, as a methadone alternative.
