The models are basically the same. they have pretty much all the same features as the older models except they are compatible with the PS2 harddisk software ( this allows you to play ps2 games on your ps3)(it is availible for free on the playstation store) other than that the only real difference besides the number of USB slot is the memory capasity. (the new ones can in fact play ps2 games. that other guy is wrong. you just need to go to the psn store and download the free harddisk software

i had the 40gb and got a new 80gb and theres literally no difference that i notice. (other than the fact the the 80 obviously has more space on it)
(rumors of backwards compatibility system wide with the next major system update are going around. also the 80G PS3 currently in stores is supposedly discontinued meaning no more will be made, lots of people are thinking this means the PS3 slim will be coming out soon.)

ok if u get an 20 or 40 gig older model it want play ps2 games but if u get an 60 gig u can play all ps games. If u want the 80 gig that plays ps2 games get the MGS4 bundle(Metal Gear Solid 4). The new 80 and 120 gig wnt play ps2 games at all.
But the best thing about the new one is that ITS NEW

i got the 80gb ps3, its alright, but the memory has faded pretty quickly, i have only 1gb left of space, i like to have a couple of demos and i like to have a large video section, but i cannot upload anymore demos or videos to my ps3 now and soon i wont have enough to install future games....but if you just want it for games then i guess its fine, but to have your videos and music on it and demos takes up alot of space
