Should i Commute 40 minutes 1 way?
I have been at my state job for 7 years now and need to move out of my current house. The towns around my work are way to expensive for us. The crappy towns are in our range but dont want the headache again. Should i move 30-40 miles away from work and commute? Or move 30-40 miles away and get a new job?

A 40 minute commute is not that bad, especially if it allows you to live in a better area. You have to decide what is important to you. Is it worth a longer drive to live in an area that is safer for you and your family? Are the schools (if you have children) better in the areas further away?
You also have to take into account traffic and regional weather. A 40 mile trip in a blizzard is different than one in the sunshine. If traffic jams are not a normal problem, and you can make the trip in under 45 minutes, I would say to commute rather than live in an area where you do not want to be.
I know that in the DC area, an hour or more commute is not considered to be out of line.

A 40 min commute is not too much of a bad thing. I had to do over an hour of travel each way every day before i moved. It wasn't too bad but gets annoying when you have an early start and a late finish.

I would do the commute. You are already settled in your job now, why risk it trying to find a new one. Last hired first fired. 40 minutes is nothing!

I did seventy 4 miles each and every thank you to my previous activity, especially much all limited-get admission to highway driving. It the hotter months it became positive, yet iciness climatic circumstances could make that shuttle a genuine chore, and risky. in case you're doing that for the duration of a climate the place it may snow, i desire you have a cellular telephone, and a CB radio. determine you're waiting for any extreme roadside issues that should ensue in case you're dealing with distant areas.

First you can move 40 minutes away & continue at your current job while you start looking for a job close to your new house.
