PLease help me with my tv, i cant get it to hook up to cable please read, thanks?
Ok, my mother in law gave us a flat screen tv, a toshiba its the one that sits on a speaker. It stands alone. Its only 2 years old, its not one of those ancient ones. Anyhow we got it home and there is no where on back to hook in a cable. Just red, yellow and whites. Also there is a hdmI connection. We dont have HD service.
So i go to walmart and they say your screwed they dont make that connector i was like yeah they do. They have to. Well we go to target they are no help then finally best buy. Well the guy says all you need is a RF modulator. Now i know thats for when your tv dont have red, yello and white. He said hook the Red, yel,wht to the tv then to the modulater and connect cable to wall. He said it would all link up. Well all it did was make a popping sound and we got a blank screen.
On another note your suppose to change it to a channel either 3 or 4. well the tv wont let us change channels there is no channel. Just a video mode. 1-6 so we set video one as cable and it didnt work. its 2 videos, 2 hdmi, and 2 other weird things.
So what do you think? We also tried hooking it all through a dvd player the dvd player works but still no freakin cable. We went and bought a svideo cable too that also didnt help.
Please if you have any clue let me know! im going crazy trying to figure this out.
Here is a link to the tv. they dont make it anymore i dont think but its only 2-3 years old.

Here is your problem: You have a Video Monitor. You do not have a television set. You need to purchase a tuner in order to get any TV stations on the set, and I don't think you can even buy stand alone tuners. The idiot at Best Buy didn't know what he was talking about. The guy at WalMart was closest to being correct.
You can subscribe to cable and get a digital cable box and hook it up to the monitor and watch tv that way. However, you cannot receive any signals from an antenna because there is no tuner in a monitor.
You can also hook up a DVD player and watch movies. You can hook up a VCR and watch movies. You can use the tuner in the VCR to watch TV channels from your antenna IF the VCR has a digital tuner or if you connect it through a digital converter box (because broadcast TV is all digital now).
The only way you can watch TV without a VCR on that monitor is to subscribe to either cable or satellite service.

I had the same problem and after trying different type cables (HDMI, S-video, etc.) I decided to contact the manufacturer of my laptop. Not sure what type PC you are using (I hooked up a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows XP. to a Samsung LNS4051DX). My solution was quite simple and rather obvious. After making the connection with either cable I had to press the "Fn" key + "F8" (F8 on mine is clearly marked "CRT/LCD", at which point my PC screen immediately appeared on my tv and my PC. Pressing it once more closed my PC monitor and the display appeared only on my tv. You PC may require using a key other than "F8" but one of them should work. After checking in my PC manual on how to connect the PC to the tv, nowhere in the instructions did it tell me to do so. I hope this works for you also.
