what can knock you of ketosis? and how much is the limit.?

i keep reading different things. OK. One website said that going over the limit can knock you off. But Then how much is the limit? i really don't want to do the below 20 carbs because after 2 weeks you just lose a pound a week. I want to do 0 to 50. Right now i am in moderate ketosis. but i am afraid to eat 50 carbs and knock my self out of it. One person told me that there are some food with carbs that can knock you out even if you did not go over the limit. IS THIS TRUE?

I don't remeber how many carbs i ate two days before yesturday. i really was not paying attention. Just ate what i had to eat. Afraid of being knocked off ketosis i kept yesturday and this morning under the 20 mark. Any help is appreciated.

Update:

Comminucations. Thanks for the concern. I understand what you’re saying. But in actuality I am suppose to be on it. I'm diabetic. Is what the doctors put you on. But I don't follow it blindly. I’m not no 30 pounds over weight. After losing 30 pounds on this, I weigh 326lbs. I'm not going to be stuffing my self with a ridiculous amount of fat. I did the low calorie crap and the doing 6 hours a day in the gym the last time I was able to lose weight. Sure I lost 55 pounds in a month and a half but when I stopped went from 203 to 357. Being on a low calorie and having polycystic ovarian, brought my metabolism almost to a screeching Holt. This is the only time that even when I had to come off it for a while I still lost weight. But like I said making sure I have all vitamins needed.

Hmm. You must be doing Atkins or something similar huh? Well, just FYI you may catch a lot of flack around here for that. ;0) However, I have done that and had great results.

So, here is what I will tell you...

There is truly no magic number. Your body processes carbs differntly than most.

There is logic behind what blood type you have and if you are someone who metabolizes carbs effeicently anyway or if you would be best suited for a low carb diet. (Blood type O is great for low carb, A is suited for Vegetarian and B is in the middle of both).

With that said that is why you introduce yourself to 0-20 for the first week or so and then gradully add about 5 a day until you stop loosing weight/maintaining.

When that happens then you pull back and this will help you to find what numbers your body can handle.

This can still keep you in ketosis since this is merely the bi-product of protein breakdown. As your body breaks down fats and utilizes proteins the proteins produce ketones in the body... and so, it is quite possible to find your magic number of carbs that you can eat while still remaining in ketosis.

Let me also reccommend that you take a muli vitamin for low carbers so that your body gets some nutrients that it may be lacking.

CLA (conjugated Linoleac Acid) is another great pill to take as it helps even more so with protein absorbtion and it has omegas in there.

    Good luck. ;0)

Low carb diet is not good for your health this is wrong way to decrease your weight you should not leave a good healthy diet otherwise you can get very sick if you want to loose weight do exercise daily and eat light food only at night bcoz the energy which we get from night food is not used by us because we sleep at night so that energy is stored as fat in our body. If you are on ketosis then you can become protein deficient and you can become anemic also. Do not take soft drinks, junk food, biscuits, breads etc these are the things which increase your weight and drink lemon water daily empty stomach because vitamin c increases your metabolism rate and that helps in burning fat.........So do not play with your health because health is the real wealth decrease your weight slowly and gradually bcoz a sudden decrease of weight can give you great weakness

To 'Wendy': ketones are not by-products of protein breakdown. Ketones are by-products of fat breakdown.
