Is speedometer & odometer required for smog test?
1998 mustang. My speedometer has been dead and because of that my odometer hasn't been turning. I need to know if this is an issue before getting a smog test.
I've had the car in for speedometer repair 3 times, each time it dies again shortly after, so it doesn't look like i can have it repaired.
This is in CA.

To my knowledge this is not a requirement. In all of the smog tests that I performed here in California it has never been an issue. If in doubt, call the Bureau of Automotive Repair, phone number is in the front of the white pages. This way there will be no dispute.
