If 10ppm=10mg/liter how many ppm are in 5mcg/tablespoon or 4oz of 5mcg/tblsp in one gallon of water?

Arrrghhh ... My brain hurts. All of my schools were promising that we would be learning the metric system by 1968 ... they lied!

I want to order some colloidal silver but most sizes are 10 ppm. However, there is this ONE bottle available that claims to be 5 mcg/tablespoon. They go on to say that you can put 4 ounces of this into a one gallon jug of water and drink 2-8 ounces per day. So to how many ppm's would this equate?

I was doing good until "mcg" got into it. I guess that is milli-centi-grams? So is that 1000th of a milligram? So would that be the equivalent of 50 ppm's?

Help ... I want my money back from my schools. I feel like an idiot. Would someone PLEASE tell me the answer to this conundrum?

The more answers the better. If I see like 10 answers with the same answer I will be appeased and so thankful to all. I might pick the person with the right answer who needs the points the most or maybe just do a random drawing if a ton of people answer. (Print out all the answers and cut them out with scissors, place them all in a hat and let my dog pick the winner ... fair enough?)

I don't even have a clue which section will get this ... but I'm sure Yahoo will solve it for me. Forgive me if they put it in the poetry section or something (although I might catch THAT one ... :-)

Update:

A SLIGHT miscalculation already I see. I transcribed it a bit improperly.

IT'S 5mcg/TEASPOON ... NOT TABLESPOON. My bad ... back to the drawing boards. My mistake ... back to your pencils if you would please. Beat me with a silver spoon. Teaspoon that is. Sorry.

Update 2:

My dearest GLOW, the medical profession has been trying to shoot down the homeopathic profession for centuries. Perhaps I am falling prey to their devious tactics but I look at the Pharaohs of Egypt back 1000's of years BC and they were scarfing silver and gold.

Look at the King's and Queens of Europe and how they ate with SILVERwear. Silver spoons and silver forks. The residue from their utensils rubbed off and possibly aided in curing some of their problems.

I found a company, BHI labs that made a product called Lymphatic. When my glands in my throat would swell I would take 1 tablet and let it dissolve under my tongue. It had a 1 millionth part of arsinicum in it ... yeah arsenic. Never killed me but worked REALLY good to clear up most lymph problems and at the first sign of a cold it would heal me in minutes. The FDA took it off the market and ordered them to stop selling it in the USA. The FDA is paid by the Pharmas. The AMA printed the cure for cancer in 1934 >>>

Update 3:

It wasn't exactly a cure but it was the CAUSE. He won the Nobel prize for it in 1934. He found that as we age we become acidic. This is what causes arthritis & many diseases. A simple balancing of pH can actually make many elderly people well. Does the FDA promote it & tell the doctors about this AMA truth? NO! They let the pharmas make billions giving people their kidney toxins. When I was young there were NO kidney foundations and now they are everywhere. Thanks to the pharma toxins. Monsanto poisons & kills 250,000 people per year but does the FDA stop them? No!

The Bilderberg Society recently met and confirmed their need to kill off 80% of the world's population since they see no way to feed everyone past 2013.

Are you screaming about genetic engineered seeds that slowly poison people over the years? No? Why not? B/C you are programmed to believe they are good for you. They are NOT!

So please allow me to take what Kings took in Sumer and Mesopotamia for health, please? :-)

Update 4:

Glow ... you have overstepped your bounds.

You are saying that the guy who won the Nobel Prize in 1934 for finding that over acidity is a condition of age & that it causes cancer, arthritis & a myriad of conditions in the old, was WRONG? That the Nobel Prize committee was in ERROR? And that the American Medical Assn Journal posted this improperly?

And where DR. GLOW did you receive YOUR medical degree if I may ask? And how is it that you can call these geniuses of Science & these scholars of academia idiots just b/c YOU find them to be in error?

You are my friend & I will ignore this atrocious lapse in awareness this ONE time but please do not EVER let it happen AGAIN! I would have to fly to London and spank your derriere raw ... ewww ... sounds like fun ... but be forewarned.

I messed up on my question as it should be 5mcg/teaspoon so if I can make an error then so can you.

You know how we Aries despise ignorance so please do not display it here.

Oh, lor'. There are so many places to trip up with this. Firstly, how many ml in a tablespoon? Apparently, a US tablespoon is 14.8ml. And I know US pints and gallons are different from UK ones, so I can't work on the "pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter/20 fl oz in a pint" basis.

OK, so there are 128 US ounces in a US gallon. 1 fl oz = 29.5ml. Mcg is microgram (1/1000mg) and a unit of mass, as millilitre is a measure of volume. I'm not surprised your brain is hurting......

Here's the best I can do. If you put 4 oz of the solution into a gallon jug, you have a total of 132 oz. Multiply by 29.5, to give a total of 3894 ml. The 4oz you've put in is 118ml, which is just under 8 tablespoons, so there's about 40mcg in there. That's 1mcg per 97.35ml.

What I can't get is how to convert from the units of mass to the units of volume. 1ml of water weighs 1gm, but I don't know how to parallel your colloidal silver, which won't weigh the same as water.

ppm doesn't depend on the total quantity - it's the dilution, which will remain the same no matter how much you take, although of course the absolute quantity would go up.

OK, I've not got you an answer, but I think I've reached the impasse that tells you why you're having problems. There is a piece of information missing, which is the mass/volume correspondence. Without that, I can't see how to complete my working.

Why in god's name are you wanting to take this toxic stuff, anyway?

EDIT: HANG ABOUT!! There is nothing, but nothing, homeopathic about what you're proposing!! Firstly, homeopathy is about the very careful matching of the symptoms of the whole person to the 'picture' of the remedy substance - NOT something one takes in a routinist way. Secondly, the remedies that homeopaths use are diluted in a very specific way and vastly more diluted than what you're proposing here.

You may have very good reasons for wanting to take colloidal silver in these toxic quantities, but I urge you to find a qualified and experienced practitioner of whatever it is (and that isn't homeopathy) to decide on the dose etc from their experience. I'd gone into this as an arithmetic exercise with some unit challenges, but this is about your health. Please, please, I'm reasonably good at working arithmetic stuff out, and if I can't find a way through this, and you don't know a way, you are running the risk of poisoning yourself.

A good homeopath, a good medical herbalist, a good Chinese medicine practitioner (none of whom use colloidal silver to the best of my knowledge) might all be able to help you significantly. But this isn't a game. Don't mess with your body and mind when you don't have the knowledge, please.

PS I don't disagree with you about the difficulty of conventional medicine or the power of the pharmaceutical companies and the fact that it's not all a nice pure relationship between pharma, medics, researchers and government. But that doesn't mean that anything whatsoever else is good!! I slate the pharmaceutical companies along with the next person, but for goodness sake, they've produced some hugely helpful stuff (I might not be here without antibiotics); the underlying principles which the medical profession is stuck with seems to have considerable flaws, but I'd never, ever want to get rid of their skills, particularly in life-threatening conditions. It's CRUCIAL that you get some well-qualified assistance. Are you in the USA? Find a decent homeopath through NASH at http://www.homeopathy.org/ , or something where the knowledge and experience can be known and regulated.

... Dart, that totally isn't medicine. You know I care about you and your health, so do some research before you harm yourself with this please.

You will be poisoning your body, not helping. Our bodies don't react well to unnecessary metals. They certainly don't react to unreactive metals. There is no way this will effect you in a positive way, your body will just store the silver as it has no way of filtering it out.

There are no legitimate medical uses for colloidal silver and no evidence to support its marketing claims. Given the associated safety risks, most health authorities in the WORLD have concluded that "efforts should be made to curb the illegal availability of colloidal silver products, which is a significant public health issue"

Silver is not an essential mineral in humans; there is no dietary requirement for silver, and no such thing as a silver "deficiency"

Currently, there are no evidence-based medical uses for ingested colloidal silver. There are no clinical studies in humans demonstrating effectiveness, and several reports of toxicity.

The U.S. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has issued an advisory indicating that the marketing claims made about colloidal silver are scientifically unsupported, and that the silver content of marketed supplements varies widely and can pose risks to the consumer.

The reason you shouldn't administer drugs to yourself is there is NO WAY of effectivly administering the correct dose. Even doctors make mistakes. See a doctor ( a REAL one) for the dosage if you really want to go ahead with this. It's not a good idea.

Get real meds, please, for me?
