How easily do you recognize a frivilous or destructive argument? When you do, do you refrain from jumping in?

I used to jump in like 50% of the time. I am down to like 10%. I definitely have learned to tell a lot better how to tell a stupid argument before it happens.

Sometimes it's so hard not to jump in...it's like a moth to the flame.

I have officially stopped answering, "If we came from monkeys why are there still monkeys?" though. Even if I do think the person is serious.

It depends on the crowd around the argument. If I think they need to hear the opposing point of view, I no longer find the argument to be frivolous. They become less destructive that way.

If everyone is using the same, stale arguments and counter arguments, I typically stay out of it. If I feel I can contribute, then I'll jump in.

I agree with phrog. it depends on my mood. but most of the time i'll jump in (like 80%). I like drama (though im not in that class. I play the violin...)

Easily, and I always keep it going. It is like sport to me, and if I have to admit defeat I do it admirably. I tend to pick my topics wisely though, only where I can display intelligence. If I cannot be smart about it, I back off.
