Ready for imminent Prohibition?

It's mooted that the intention is to ban sales of alcohol in predominantly Muslim areas of Selangor. As the population of Malaysia as a whole is 50.4% (current statistics) Muslim, will this therefore be a precursor to the whole of Malaysia being declared an alcohol-free zone?

Update:

-chemistc : "majority"=a number greater than another number (50.4% being greater than 49.6%). Multiracial is irrelevant?

Update 2:

(Sue Yin) You believe the government thinks ahead when the issues pertain to "offending the sensibilities of the majority"?

Whilst I don't really believe "prohibition" is anything like imminent, I do believe that it's indicative of how things could develop, especially in the event of a "rapprochement" between BN and PAS.

The problem is, the alcohol industry gives thousands and thousands of people jobs at the brewery, pubs, hotels etc. Banning the sale and production of alcohol is going to put too many people out of work. And I think there is a huge amount of income made from duty taxes imposed on alcohol. We're helping the economy just by going out to drink. There is too much money to lose if the stupid government decides to declare Malaysia an alcohol-free zone.

Besides, I've have to kill someone if they took away my beer.

No la, the state government has decided no blanket ban at Muslim majority areas:

BTW, you statistic is slightly inaccurate. 50.4% is the percentage of Malays. For Muslim population, it's around 60%.

not possible to declare whole Malaysia an alcohol-free zone. because Malaysia is multi-racial and multi-religion country.

if the prohibition occur, there would be some sort of protest being done. tunjuk perasaan, demonstrasi sana sini, whatsoever. Najib just has a little too many things to consider, he wouldn't want such crappy thing to burden his mind.

so, u dont worry meh.. =)

If the alcohol ban is possible.

Will it be possible to ban umno from a certain location too?

If the answer is a yes, i will support it.

if the answer is a no , i am going out to get another beer.
