What should i use as a Honing oil?

I have a new oil stone that has medium and low grit and i need to know what i should use for honing oil?

(and is an oil stone good for sharpening axes?)

    Depends on what your are trying to sharpen. The oil stone is good for pocket knives or kitchen knives. For an ax , I would use an electric grindstone. And as for a honing oil, I would not even bother to use it. Just rub the blade at an angle on the whetstone.

    I use WD-40 on my wet stone, I use a file to sharpen an axe.

    Any grade of light lubricating oil is fine. Yes you can use it to sharpen axes.

    if you have it pneumatic tool oil works well.

    For an axe put your grind on the blade with a bench grinder then give it a fine edge, you'll put Paul Bunyan to shame with it. haha

    if you really want to sharpen a knife get filament from a sodium lamp,make it split a red hair lol
