I don't think Thordendal's Special Defects is strange. I like it. I listened to Part 2 and now I am listening to part 1. Surprisingly, I think it is very good. Something new for me. And, I have heard only one song from Meshuggah, it didn't sound too outstanding, rather generic. But, I also don't remember what it sounds like and plus it was only one song. From my memory though, I have to say this is much better. Yeah, the vocals do sound fit for Black Metal, mostly in part 1, but I love Black Metal vocals so it's fine. Also, in part 2, the bizarreness of it creates a bizarre atmosphere, which is what people is calling creepy. Creepy is good, very good. Also, I can't understand the screaming very much, but when he was talking in the beginning of part 2, the lyrics seem strange as well. Something that is left up to the listener. Normal becomes boring, this stuff is interesting.
Dew-Scented, I have heard them before, once or twice. My opinion: Their vocalist sounds as if he has lost his voice, particularly in the video of Turn To Ash. Also the rest of the music is nothing new. I know they are probably older than other bands, thus being around before them, but that does not change the fact that I have heard the latter first, and now when I listen to Dew Scented, it feels that I have heard it all before. I'm afraid, that if I want a very a good thrash band similar to Dew Scented, I could find one anywhere on Youtube that sounds just like it. And possibly one even better seeing how many newer bands are up and rising thrashers.
Moving on...
Shadow Gallery is very melodic. And of course, I love melodic. From the first song, Rain, they sound very promising. Emotional instrumentation and a soothing voice. Not too technical, but still so in a sense, but not pure show-off. The singer seems to resemble some of my dad's music a bit, his music coming from the 70's with the Classics. He would probably like this. And I like it. Very nice.
The second song of Spiral Architect, Cloud Constructor, seems more structured and 'organized' than the first link. The vocals fit the music enough, but I feel I would have to give this band a couple more replays until I can form a full opinion on them. So far, it feels like the singer is not singing with the utmost expression, but I can't justify that without giving a few more listens. The instruments, in my opinion, are fantastic. Not because of the technicality. They haven't forgotten to make all that technical stuff into music. The instruments make me feel like I'm in space or something haha, because they are strange. Just...the vocals I could do without, not that the singer is terrible, but he sort of ruins the emotion I think, because he has none.
Overall, Shadow Gallery, Spiral Architect, and Fredrik Thordendal are the artists I will go back to. So, thank you for showing me this new music. I've been feeling like I need something new to stimulate me, and this is a start.

MQs: I've heard of Dew-Scented, Shadow Gallery, and Spiral Architect. I'm a fan of the former two, Shadow Gallery being my favourite of the three (Mike Baker was a great vocalist, and he will be missed). Spiral Architect are decent as well, though too technical for me to enjoy very much.
Fredrik Thordendal's Special Deffects were ummm...very interesting.
BQ: 'Across the Dark' - Insomnium.

Dew Scented was okay until the guy started singing.
Same for Thordendal's Special Defects.
Shadow Gallery was dope, to the point that I'll probably add that album to my Amazon cart.
Spiral Architect was alright. Being named after a Sabbath song, I expected something different.
I never heard of any of these bands before.

MA1: I liked Shadow Gallery and Spiral Architect, definitely bands I'll be checking out. The Special Defects song was a little quirky, but I may end up liking it after a few more listens. As for Dew-Scented, growled vocals aren't really my thing.
MA2: To be honest, none.

Dew-scented is awesome! Thrashy death metal!!!
Thordendal's Special Defects is.... interesting... I like the vocals alot.
Shadow Gallery is ok. I would like it if they would throttle up the aggression.
Spiral Architect is mindblowing! Very jazzy and unpredictable. Loving it!
MA2: I heard of Shadow Gallery but that's pretty much it.
BA: I guess...Evisceration Plague by CC.
