Why would I support the birthers?

1. Congress had the opportunity to raise the issue before they accepted the vote of the Electoral College. Congress's options are laid out in the Constitution. (Amendment 12, 20)

2. If a president is found ineligible after the Congress has accepted the results and the president has been sworn in, the only mechanism for removal is Impeachment and Trial. The rules of succession govern what happens next. (If the VP is impeached, it's the next in line, etc.)

Each party qualifies their candidates, each state qualifies their elections and sets the rules for electors.

ADDED: Stay-on T, where in the constitution is a special election mentioned? The procedure is governed by the Constitution and the Presidential Succession Act.

It would be a valid question for the courts except for the nutjob birthers who actually BELIEVE that Obama wasn't born here. And the harm it would do to Obama's political agenda to have this case going on.

Who was suppose to check Obama's eligibility was the Electoral College. The DNC should have had this on their check list. Its my belief that if they were not aware of the possibility he was not natural born they knew about it before the election but after they nominated him. I think it is reasonable. Liberals think that anyone who believes in the birthers is racist, which is not the truth. They are real people who want real answers.
