there is no such place as "London central" ... there is the City of London which is nowadays the financial district but which was the ancient walled City ... there is the West End (which is to the west of the City) where Oxford Street, shops and theatres are ... there are other areas such as Westminster, Knightsbridge etc etc.
we talk of going into central London, which is roughly the zone 1 area on the London Transport map http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tu...
there are thousands of hotels in London ... have a look at this website because it explains the areas etc quite well

London is vast, with town upon town and villages in between. Most of us would call the bit in the middle the central part. The best thing you can do is look at a map and see which part it is you need to be, and the go to the transport of london website.
That will help you decide whether buses, tubes or trains are best for you. Transport is good, so you shouldn't have any problems.
There are hundreds of hotels in London and depending on your budget, again you should be able to find one near to where you want to be. If you give me more specific details I can perhaps try to help you more.

It would be a better idea if you told us where the conference is taking place so people can advise you - central London means different things to different people. I would consider central London to be around Oxford Street down towards Westminster & over towards the City, other people would think differently.
It would be very difficult to find yourself somewhere in London where you weren't a couple of minutes from a tube station.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
