I know nothing about harddrives specs other than storage, would this one be Ok to upgrade to? If not could you recommend a decent macbook 500 gig harddrive to upgrade to for less than $200? Thanks!

Seagate has terrible reputation for their build quality. You probably aren't getting a full factory warranty off ebay either.

I'd recommend getting a western digital, something in their scoprio line

Even though it doesn't say made for mac. Mac's will work with any hard drive that a pc will work with (basically same hardware parts)

I would leave the hardrive you have in the macbook as it was designed specifically for OS X. IF you upgrade, their could be problems, especially if its not from the same company apple gets their HD from which is called Hitachi. If you want more space, then get a backup harddrive and run time machine to.
