What does this reoccurring dream mean?

I keep having a dream where I purchase the first home my parents bought in 1986 when I was 4 years old. They sold the home in 90' before I turned 9 and now in the dream I'm buying it nearly 20 years later only it's not the way I remember it.

As far as I remember the home was nice and neat but in the dream it's thrashed and looking out the window the sky is always dark and stormy. Nothing bad ever happened to me there, it was always the quiet, peaceful, kids playing in the street, typical 80's neighborhood. Basically I have fond memories of living there so I don't understand why I would dream about it being so miserable.

A lot of times I am told that when we dream of houses it represents our life. I have dreams about houses of my past, especially the one I grew up in, and I find other rooms or staircases that didn't exist. Its like there's new parts of ourselves to discover, new chapters of our lives to unfold. I think part of the interpretation might be around the kind of emotions you are feeling while looking at it, then reflect on what is going on in your life. The house, like any other dream content, does not necessarily have anything to do with the real version of the house from your past - it is likely just a handy stage your mind pulled out of memory to play with.

the house means that the house represents you. Each room represents a different side of you. So the house is neat now. but getting it messed up means the same as a story and to see a storm in your dream, signifies overwhelming struggle, shock, devastating loss and catastrophe in your personal affairs. The storm also represents unexpressed fears or emotions, such as anger, rage, turmoil, etc. On a more positive note, the storm signifies your rising spirituality. It could signal rapid changes ahead for you.
