Going surfing in bali?

Hey all,

So I am taking a semester in Thailand at the moment, but since my exams all finish at the beginning of December I have a whole month to do whatever. My plan is to fly to Bali and spend a week or two there before I head home. I am not looking for any heavy waves or anything just something beginner to intermediate fun waves, like stomach to head high about that I can short board or longboard. I have come across a place called Kuta which seems to have what I want. So is this a good place to go, some where better? And also can anyone recommend a good place to stay thats close to good surfing that isnt expensive. Thanks!

Do not go to Kuta!, it is a ******* **** hole plus you're going in the off season so the winds will be onshore for Kuta and the entire west coast,

You want to head to the east coast, surf places such as keramas, nusa dua, sanur all reef but mate harden up a little and you will score all time waves, umm there are cheap places in tuban and sanur, i reckon you should just get a car and just head up and down the east coast staying in the warungs on that side of the island oiii plus head to turtle island, sarangan as it's also known there's good waves there also watch out for the kooks though!
