Poet. From the Greek Poesis: To Make. A maker. A poet doesn't survive on emotion. A poet is the figure that is as withdrawn from the world as active in it. Separate. At a loss for complete distance or complete immersion. Nobody writes a poem in five minutes that is worth five minutes of reading. A poem is an accumulation of events/emotions/disruptions/comprehensions that is translated into a specific language in a specific way. A poet is not someone who writes verse, but someone who lives in the depths of creation, forging the symbols of contemporary times into unforgettable language. A poet would rather live life as a poem than write poetry. A poet will never call themself a poet.

I'm not sure if I understand your question entirely, but I would say that anyone who tries to express something - anything in written or lyrical form is a poet.

you basically answered it yourself but just being able to write on emotion, like myself you can give me any topic and withing 5 mins. i could write a poem on it. I am very fluent with my writing. Basically poets write on emotions, often they write randomly, but lots of times its on current events, thoughts in their minds, things they have seen etc.

Poets enjoy and have a talent for writing poetry. They use poetry as an artistic medium to express their thoughts and emotions.
