How do i get my cd burner to work?

I have a dell laptop inspiron 1525 and my hard drive crashed on me a while ago, well dell sent me a new hard drive and now my cd burner doest work. I am able to rip cd's to the computer but i cant seem to get them to burn to the cd's. My driver also is letting me play the cds music/ games, so i dont understand why it isnt letting me burn the cds? Please help!!!

    Hardware wise:

    If the drive isn't working, I would have said that the HD came configured as standalone, and that's the problem ! But after we skipped this point:-

    Another point: Go the properties of the drive (right click on CD drive and click properties). In one of the tab you will find: "Enable writing using this drive" or a similar message. Make sure it is enabled.

    You can also delete the drive from Device Manager: 1)goto properties of My Computer, then Advanced, then Device manger, 2) search for the CDR drive, and delete it. 3) restart the system, 4) refresh the device manager list (if not re-added automatically). Hopefully, this will help.

    Additional software wise:

    If you have Windows XP (or later version) it should be working right away. Just drop files to the CDR drive

    If you have linux, there are tons of applications, like K3B that are really professional, and easy to use still.

    You need a CD burning program.

    you need a driver. go to the dell website, and go to support and drivers. then enter ur service tag, and then choose your category for drivers. download the driver and install it.

    uninstal it on computer management then reinstal it.
