Does maine require employers to pay for days missed due to jury duty?

I have jury duty coming up and my father in law said that my work should be paying me but a friend said they do not. I had trouble finding this information, does anyone know the answer or where I could look for this information?

I don't think ANY State requires your employer to pay you. The COURT pays you. SOME, not all and probably not most, employers are KIND ENOUGH to offer to take your jury pay and exchange it for your work day pay. So if you have to miss 1 day they will offer to take that check and give you 1 day's pay. That is a COMPANY choice though.

Nope and it's a shame that jury duty only pays about 10 dollars per day, at least where I live.

Your employer is not required to pay you for days you do not work, regardless of the cause.

You will be paid by the court for your jury service. (It's not much, but it's pay.)
