To all Birthers, why would Obama fake U.S. birth, when everyone knows he has citizenship through his mother?
The Constitution requires citizenship at birth, not birth in the U.S.:
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
U.S.C.A. Const. Art. II § 1, cl. 4
This is the current information on birth of U.S. citizens abroad. Rules have changed regarding out of wedlock children, but this had been the rule for married parents for generations:
"A child born abroad, in wedlock, with only one American citizen parent, acquires citizenship only when the citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for 5 years or more prior to the child's birth, at least 2 of the 5 years occurring after the parent had passed age 14 (Immigration and Nationality Act Sec.301(g))."
"Natural born citizen" includes a person, such as John McCain or Mitt Romney, who was born a citizen, though not born on U.S. soil.
My appoligies to Mr. Romeny. I took a source at face value which I should have questioned. John McCain was the only 2008 Presidential candidate to have citizenship through his parents rather than by birth on U.S. soil. Thankfully I am able to see and understand facts and correct my mistakes. See how that process works.

You cannot use logic when speaking to birthers. Better to just blurt out something crazy and let them put the pieces together....it occupies some of their worthless time.
MIDGETS!
See, they'll be working on the connection between Obama and midgets for weeks!

It doesn't matter if his mother was a U.S. citizen or not. The only people born outside the U.S. who can still run for president are people who were born on military bases, or a US Embassy. Obama was born in Hawaii. Hawaii became a state in 1959. People think Obama may have been born earlier than that. Which if he was, his election would be illegitimate, because if he was born before Hawaii became a state he would have been born outside of the US. When looking at your second point it basically says he would be a citizen because of his mother. THis is true but he still was not born in the US. His mother being a US citizen means he could apply for dual citizenship bu t but that's about it. You have to be a naturalized citizen. My parents have been US citizens their whole lives. I was born here too but let's say they had me in Greece. Then I would not be able to run for President because I would not be a naturalized citizen.

This hasn't been the rule for married parents for generations. It's only been the rule since 1986. From December 24th, 1952, to November 13th, 1986, there was another law. "If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16." Obama's mother was 18 when she had him. He couldn't get citizenship through her. If you're going to "prove" birthers wrong, you could at least get your facts right.

What actually is in question is was he a NATURALIZED citizen. You have to be born in American not just a American citizen to become president. That is where people get it wrong. Born in the USA, or a Military Base or a US Territory. So once again just being an American does not make it so you can be president

I'm not a birther but no, when he was born she had to have lived here longer than that after her 14 birthday and she wasn't old enough to have done.
But it isn't being a 'citizen' it is being 'natural born' and the supreme court hasn't fully defined that.
But since Hawaii says he was born there, it's kind of moot.

I'll tell you what this is really about. They're still mad that they lost the election and now we have a black democrat as president. They can't stand it one single bit and will try to use any excuse they can to fight him.
The way I see it, there's no purpose in having a rational debate with these people because it's not a legal issue. It's a mental issue really...

Because people like Lou Dobbs want to despise him by his race.
Some People don't get it Now the Birther Movement is dying and the Birthers themselves are getting laughed at serve them right.

To be honest, you just can't expect irrational people to think rationally. You could build a time machine and take them to directly observe Obama's birth, and they'd still find a reason to say it wasn't legit.

Very interesting question but you would have to ask him. He sure did spend a lot of money to cover up something.
