A answer I Read made me think of this Question. Do you think God and Jesus has a sense of humor?

I think that if God does exist he must have a good sense of humor. Just some things I find funny in the Bible or is it just me? 1 Timothy 1;11 The happy God. God could be sarcastic. 1 Kings 18;27 And it came about at noon that Elijah began to mock them and say Call at the top of your voice for he is a god. For he must be concerned with a matter and he has excrement and has to go to the privy or maybe he is asleep and ought to wake up. Puppy chasing its tail or a kitten playing with a ball of wool God has made certain animals very funny Jesus said at Matthew 19;23, 24 Easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of. Luke 6;41, 42 Seeing the straw in a brother’s eye but not observing the rafter in one’s own eye. That is just some

Clearly... the biblical god was quite a prankster... lol

You know... drown everyone, people being swallowed by whales, sacrificing one's child... all very funny stuff...

  • In reading the Gospels, you get the picture that Jesus was actually a pretty funny guy because he got invited to a lot of parties with some pretty wild people and crowds gathered around him because they enjoyed his company. Furthermore, how could Jesus be fully human, and fully God, and not occasionally tell a decent joke, when Ecclesiastes 3:4 says there is "a time to laugh"?

Vulgar comedian Carlos Mencia, in his "No Strings Attached" tour, claimed to be a Catholic Christian and said, "God wants you to laugh. God has a sense of humor. If you don't believe me, go to Wal-Mart and look at people. God is funny." Self-described "feminist bisexual egomaniac" Camille Paglia said, "Jesus was a brilliant Jewish stand-up comedian, a phenomenal improviser. His parables are great one-liners."

Elton Trueblood wisely says, "There are numerous passages.. which are practically incomprehensible when regarded as sober prose, but which are luminous once we become liberated from the gratuitous assumption that Christ never joked... Once we realize that Christ was not always engaged in pious talk, we have made an enormous step on the road to understanding." Trueblood goes on to say, "Christ laughed, and... He expected others to laugh... A misguided piety has made us fear that acceptance of His obvious wit and humor would somehow be mildly blasphemous or sacrilegious. Religion, we think, is serious business, and serious business in incompatible with banter."

It is often the comedic exaggeration of Jesus that drives less-than-funny Bible commentators mad as they try to figure out such things as how a camel can fit through the eye of a needle. In fact, one scholar argues that "the most characteristic form of Jesus' humor was the preposterous exaggeration."

Jesus' humor was often biting and harsh, particularly when directed at the Pharisees. For example, he called them a bag of snakes, said that their moms had shagged the Devil, and mocked them for tithing out of their spice racks.

Indeed, sometimes self-righteous religious folks take themselves way too seriously and the best response is to just make fun of them. The explains why Jesus also made fun of how people pray and fast.

We are made in His image so I think He has a sense of humor. I find a lot of humor in the things he created, animals and plants. I like the scriptures you give. I get a real kick out of Deuteronomy 23: 13, 14. Cover over your excrement for God is walking about within your camp.

i do no longer think of that there is a "correlation between loss of a humorousness and being non secular" in any respect. purely as there are categories of folk-there are diverse tastes with connection with humor. I bear in ideas being excited approximately going to work out "crimson Foxx" at a stay overall performance. i replaced into looking forward to to work out the guy I had come to be conscious of as "Sanford" on the television hit "Sanford and Son" yet replaced into I in for a ask your self! If somebody right here did no longer like the posts you had transferred to right here that would desire to no longer have stunned you. that would not recommend they lacked humor-they only did no longer delight on your form or style of humor. I published a humorous tale approximately heaven some weeks in the past and have been given an extremely recommend lively reaction from an atheist-so the blanket assumption that atheist all have a humorousness would not ring real to me the two. individuals are human beings and unique.
