Social Security Question?

I have a friend he is 46 his second wife has just died. He works 30 hours a week right now. Can he get his wife's Social Security being 46 and working 30 hours a week? Also he has children by his first wife can he get the second wife's Social Security for his children though they were just her step children and they live with their mother the first wife.

    have him call the social security office and ask he does have time off to do this since he works only 30 hours a week the number is here http://www.ssa.gov/pgm/services.htm hope this will help him out

    according to me both have rights BUT he should give preference to his first wife's children.
