    For this, you need to use the slope formula, which is the following:

    y2 - y1

    -----------

    x2 - x1

    y2 is one of y-coordinates, and y1 is the other y-coordinate. x2 is one of the x-coordinates, and x1 is the other x-coordinate. However, if you choose 4 as your y2, then you have to choose 2 as your x2. If you choose 7 as your y2, then you have to choose 5 as your x2.

    I'll choose 4 as my y2, 2 as my x2, 7 as my y1, and 5 as my x1.

    So once I plug those numbers into the formula, I get this:

    4 - 7

    -------

    2 - 5

    So then I just do the math and I get this:

    - 3

    -----

    - 3

    - 3 over - 3 is 1, so your final answer is:

    1

    Slope of a line when 2 points are given is given by the formula

    (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1) = (7-4)/(5-2) = 3/3 = 1

  • 1 decade ago

    m = y2 = y1 / x2 - x1

    m = 7-4 / 5-2

    m = 3/3

    m = 1

    Slope is 1
