Feelings on Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie?
For those of you Whedon fans, how do you feel about a Buffy movie sans Whedon or any of the cast?
On the one hand, opening with a new franchise may rope in some new viewers, but do the big fans of Buffy not deserve a reunion of the old cast?
I mean it would be one thing like Star Trek, where the cast is too old to be easily kicking butt. But the Scooby Gang range from twenties, mostly thirties, and a few in their forties.
How do you feel?

I am strongly against it! It will be a huge flop. Joss and the cast worked so hard to make the tv show a hit, do they really think they can swoop in and try and steal some of the lime light? I think the majority of Buffy fans will be against it. I'm not saying that the movie itself will be really bad - I mean, I'm sure the special effects will be a lot better than the last movie, and it'll probably have a decent plot - but it will ruin the good Buffy name!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer works best as a television series due to its story arks that take entire seasons to resolve. A movie version of that would not work. Especially considering that makers of the original Buffy movie (1992) are behind this idea of making a new film. They were in charge of the franchise once and almost damaged it beyond repair. When the movie was turned into a tv series, it was considered a joke like the movie until it actually turned out to be good.

As much as I love Buffy, I have double feelings about a possible movie. First of all, movie adaptions are usually quite disappointing since they're made to make money, they lack creativity, are full of action with a lame story.
IF the old cast is doing this, I'd be happy to forget this all and watch it because it's BUFFY(quite sentimental now). But if they're going to replace the cast I wouldn't find it very concinving and wouldn't care less.

Hey, if it's good, it's good. If it's not, it's not. It won't have the same cast or Whedon involved (though Whedon just MIGHT have some involvement as rumored). Either way, I'll see it and hopefully enjoy it. That's all he wrote.
