Getting suspended depends on the severity of the violation, a really bad one like terms of service can get you suspended immediately or minor ones like chatting it will take quite a few unless you get many very quickly in short space of time.Any time you get a violation notice it is a warning that your account is in jeopardy When a user is Suspended for violating the Terms of Service or the Community Guidelines, their Yahoo! Answers account is disabled.

They can still browse the website, but they cannot ask questions, or answers questions on the site.

All Suspensions are permanent. You can only get your account back if you appeal for your account and your appeal is accepted, and that happens only when you are Suspended by a false violation, but 98.9% of the time, the appeals are declined, and so almost no one ever get their accounts back.

If you violate the Yahoo! Terms of Service (impersonate someone, harass users here, use pornographic pictures) your account will be DEACTIVATED if Yahoo! receives a report.

Difference between Suspension and account Deactivation is that you can still have your Yahoo! ID if you are Suspended (as in you can still use your Yahoo! Mail and other Yahoo! services except Yahoo! Answers), but if your account is Deactivated, you will lose your entire Yahoo! ID, and won't be able to sign in into your email~~~~~~~~~~~when you ask a question you want something (an answer) so it costs 5 points . When you answer a question you give something (an answer) so you receive 2 points. when you choose a best answer to your question you get 3 points back so it evens out.

    Hi,

These are some of the possibilities your account may be terminated, even without prior notice at times.

    1. Pornographic Avatar... If you use an extremely objectionable display image as your Avatar, you will be terminated.

    2. Posting links to infectious website.. Yahoo! Answers will terminate your account for intentionally causing havoc.

    3. Threats. Yahoo! Answers will terminate your account if you threaten someone ( i.e., say you will trace their IP address and physical home location to murder them).

    4. Yahoo! Answers will terminate your account if you are guilty of trolling. A Troll sole purpose is to upset the Community to amuse itself.

    5. Yahoo! Answers will also terminate your account if you are reported for violation of the Community repeatedly for the same thing ( i.e, spamming).

As for why you lose points for asking questions: It is to encourage members to answer questions.

These are just a few of the reasons Yahoo! may terminate your account.

Because they did not read the rules. If you break a rules, you get reported. Too many offenses and you get deleted.

It cost's 5 points because it does not take skill to ask a question. If you pick a best answer you get 3 points back....so it's really only like you lost 2 points.
