    I use both, Thank You is more formal and I use it with business dealings and seniors, clergy and other professionals I am dealing with. Thanks is for the kids at the drive through window, the bag boy at the store and the kid who throws my paper. Thanks is for my grandsons when they do something I ask, but Thank You is for the times they do something without being asked.

    I agree. Thanks is a bit too casual for someone who took the time to do a person a favor or give a gift. ;-) A lot is too words. Sorry. I used to be an English teacher.
