what did you think of district 9?
i was very surprised, to be honest, about the overwhelmingly positive critical reaction to the movie...obviously the effects were excellent and they managed to add some humor to the plot mainly in the beginning of the movie, but i felt the premise to be a little predictable and silly..perhaps i'm bitter because the previews got me excited for a possible alien vs. human war kind of movie, but i knew for sure once the plot started developing that the focus was on one guy and i knew exactly what would happen to him(those who have seen it know what i'm speaking of, i won't ruin it)
so, what did everyone else think?

I feel the same as you. I went into it thinking I was going to see a battle between aliens and humans. However, I should have known Peter Jackson was going to "humanize" the aliens and turn it into a bittersweet story of prejudice and survival. I knew the same once I saw it focusing on that one guy. I knew it was going to be more of a focused story of his survival than an overall view of a war between aliens and humans. It wasn't what I was expecting, so I didn't enjoy it much.
