It can happen immediately as the iud doesn't interfere with everyone's ovulation - so you may be asked when having it removed whether you've had sex recently. It took us 1 cycle to conceive after having it removed. The body is an amazing thing and bounces back really quickly after a change, so don't fret about waiting.
