Not sure. Normal period or not?

I started at 12. I didn't have another period until the summer after 8th grade. Then, I had three. One in May, one in June, and one in July. I didn't have another until the summer before 10th grade. I've had four periods now. They usually last 5 or 6 days, but this one is already on its 8th day. I'm very skinny, but I'm not anorexic or bulimic. It's kind of scaring me because I've never had a period last this long and I'll stop bleeding in the afternoon and then start again in the morning. I'm not sure whether my worrying is justified. I know that a lot of time when you first start, it's irregular, but does that count for me even if I did first have my period 3 years ago? I've only had eight period in three years. My cycle is also really short. From the time when one period ends, I usually only have 21 days until the next one begins. Should I be worried? Is this normal? What can I do?

I don't think there is a "normal period"....

When my friends and I were in high school. We all were very different. One would always get period every month but she would get the worst cramps and even vomiting and would miss school because of it, another would get it and be totally fine, she had light periods...Now I was kind of left out of all of that because like you, I totally just skipped my period for about 4 years. I remember getting it my freshman year a couple of times but that was it....Then out of high school I went to college but still nothing. If I did get it was probably a couple of times.... i don't remember. Anyways my boyfriend moved in with me and I still no period...After some time of being together, he insisted I get a pregnancy test done. I would say I wasn't pregnant because it was totally normal for my missed periods...But one day I said fine! I'll do it...Turns out I was almost 3 mths. pregnant!!! I couldn't believe it, I had even thought that maybe I couldn't get pregnant with my problem, but it happened, my daughter is 31 mths. now. After the first year and a half that I had her I got my periods every month. Then they stopped again...since then I have probably gotten it twice.

Source(s): Sorry my story is soooo long. Hope you got my point though-What is norma?!

I wouldn't be worried because when you start your periods, you can miss some, but this is normal for the first one/two years, although if you're really that worried, talk to your mam, or your doctor

Don't worry, some periods can be really long! If it gets REALLY long though then you should ask. If you have any questions or are worried then you should maybe ask your mum for help and advice! It helps getting things off your chest! Good luck x
