Which doctor do I see for a UTI?
I haven't seen a doctor for a UTI in years (as in, since I was about 5 or so), I've always handled them at home with lots of cranberry juice and water. But I have an especially tough one, and probably should schedule an appointment if it's not clearing up by the end of the weekend. Do I see a general practitioner, my OB/GYN or a urologist for this? The only regular doctor I really have is an OB/GYN, and if they need to do an examination, this is really the only doctor I'd feel very comfortable with.

A GP would be fine in treating this as a simple prescription for antibiotics would be made. But you OBGYN would do the same. See which ever doctor you want - they will all do the job.

My best suggestion would be to see your OB/GYN. As noted, a regular doctor can usually take care of this sort of problem, but if it is abnormal he will simply refer you to the specialist. Better to cut out the middle man (and possibly an additional co-pay) by going straight to the specialist in the first place.
Hope everything works out okay.
P.S. Cranberry juice is generally good for treating this sort of thing, but most cranberry juice is sweetened and can actually reduce resistance to yeast infections because the sugars feed the yeast. Try lingonberry juice instead, it has all the health benefits of cranberry but is not as tart and is therefore sweetened less. Good luck.

If you have a regular OB/GYN that you like you can give them a call and say you need an appointment for a UTI. They will tell you if you need to see a GP.

A GP DOC WILL BE JUST FINE, ALL THEY DO IS TEST YOUR URINE AND PRESCRIBE YOU AN ANTIBIOTIC AND TELL YOU TO DRINK MORE WATER. TO AVOID A UTI TRY NOT TO WEAR TIGHT JEANS (CROTCH CRAWLERS) DO NOT GO COMMANDO AND SOAK IN A TUB OFTEN AND DO NOT USE THE SAME PANTIES DURING THE DAY THAT YOU HAVE SLEPT IN AT NIGHT, THESE ARE PRECAUTIONS THAT REALLY WORK, OTHER ARE NOT TO DRINK A LOT OF DARK POPS AND ALWAYS ADD CLEAR LIQUIDS AS A DAILY ROUTINE, IF YOUR OB/GYN IS YOUR ONLY REGULAR DOC SHE TOO CAN DO THE SAME TESTING, IT'S NOT BIGGIE TO FIND A UTI, GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND FEEL BETTER

you can go to your family MD. If the UTI is caused from say kidney stones or something else like that, then this MD will refer you to a urologist for further testing.

I'd go with the OB/GYN
