Ubuntu wifi question? I have Ubuntu on a lappy and want to connect to my 2wire home portal. I can't do it!?
My network requires a key - when i type it in on the Ubuntu computer, it simply will not connect to the wifi modem. There is a drop down "Wireless Security" that has as options: LEAP, WEP 128 bit passphrase; WEP 64/128-bit hex; & WEP 64/128-bit ASCII. Do I need to change this setting? The default is WEP 128 bit passphrase. The presetup pass phrase is 10 numbers.
TY Ben, I actually got online right after posting this question by choosing "WEP 64/128-bit Hex". Since the password was a 10 digit no., but you said Hex means all numbers + A-F; I have no clue why it worked. Luck.

It depends on what type of security you put on the network. If it's WEP, you probably want to find out the hex numbers (all numbers + letters from A-F) and use that. If it's WPA, you'll have to look up how to add WPA support to Ubuntu.
