Have you heard of the Great Garbage Patch?

If you drink water out of a plastic bottle it might interest you to find out where a lot of those bottles end up.

www.greatgarbagepatch.org

It inspired me to start drinking tap water out of a reusable bottle.

Update:

Nata first off I am not asking anyone to donate money but I am asking for people to become aware of an existing ecological horror. Your reply is based upon your obvious ignorance of an existing problem that menaces the Pacific Ocean and it time will menace its food chain. Look it up in any reference site and you'll find it.

The interesting thing is that since the natural ocean currents tends to sweep the debris to one location, this actually makes it easier for us to clean up the seas just be focusing our efforts in that location. Problem is, we're not doing that.

I either reuse or recycle my plastic bottles but I did buy a stainless steel reusable bottle when it was deeply discounted. It's an awkward size and it transmit cold and heat too quickly which means that cold water makes it sweat and hot water would make it too hot to hold plus it doesn't stay at the desired temperature long. Now I'm looking for a reasonably priced thermos instead.

Heard of it, seen video of it, and noticed that it is beautiful blue clear ocean, with occasional tiny debris floating by. If that is as bad as it can get, then we have no reason for concern.

I was amused by this article

    http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,191...

Time magazine has a photo of a plastic bag floating in a nice aquarium. They then claim that plastic in landfills eventually ends up in the pacific gyre. What a bunch of clowns.

the reason for stopping the use of bottled water should not be based on the scam called the great garbage patch, it's a lie. But if you stop wasting money on stupid things like bottled water because of it, thats OK.

Think about other silly things you do, you don't need a group of people that want you to donate money to them and they run off and drink from bottled water. Do it because it right.
