It is a metaphor.
Bread is the staple of life. Food is absolutely essential for survival.
Jesus is to the spirit - the eternal part of man, what bread is to the body.
Just as with bread, the bread is consumed and destroyed for the benefit of the one eating; so Christ's life was destroyed for our sakes, so that we by faith may "eat of his flesh" - that is, be benefited by the sacrifice of His body on the cross; and "drink of His blood" - that is, find life and forgiveness of sins through His blood which was poured out for our sakes.
It is by simple faith in the sacrifice of Jesus for sins that we receive forgiveness of sins, and become spiritually alive to God. We find life through His flesh - the Bread of God, which was given for the life of the world.
As for Paul, formerly Saul, this what he said about himself.........
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life."

Well I'm not really good with referencing in the Bible but I definitely recognize the verse I studied it have you tried John 6:26?? Random verse try that chapter. Well what Jesus means is you know how He uses metaphors a lot, so he means that we need bread (or any food) to live. But his bread (or him) will not only help us to live, but to live forever, so our spirit needs Him (our spiritual food) to survive.
Also Paul's name was Saul before he became and apostle.
Sometimes I wonder why God bothered to change him, he would persecute God's people and saw to it some were killed, it just really shows that God can look beyond people and really know who they are and their potential far more than we can and just His grace and mercy on Paul, and how He not only forgave him from his sins but used him. And I think that's a good example because no matter how evil or vile you are God can really use you.

john 6:53
saul
In Matthew 26, Mark 14, and Luke 22, Jesus says of the bread, "This is my body." He says of the wine, "This is my blood." Not "this is symbolic of," or "this represents," He says "this IS." In John 6, He repeats Himself, like He does nowhere else in Scripture, to emphasize the fact that He expects us to eat His flesh and drink His blood and that His flesh is real food and that His blood is real drink.
Anyone who says He is speaking symbolically, and not literally, simply is refusing to look at all of the facts. Fact #1: The Jews took him literally, verse 52. Fact #2: His disciples took him literally, verse 60. Fact #3, the Apostles took him literally, verses 67-69. If everyone who heard him speak at the time took Him literally, then my question is: Why does anyone today, 2000 years after the fact, take him symbolically?
Also, in verse 51, Jesus says that the bread which He will give for the life of the world is His flesh. When did He give His flesh for the life of the world? On the cross. Was that symbolic? If you think Jesus is speaking symbolically here when He says that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood, then you must also conclude that Jesus' death on the cross was symbolic...it wasn't really Jesus hanging up there...it was symbolic flesh and symbolic blood.
Jesus is clearly talking about the flesh that He gave for the life of the world...He did that on the cross. Those who believe He is talking symbolically here in John 6, have a real problem when it comes to John 6:51. Did Jesus give His real flesh and blood for the life of the world, or was it only His symbolic flesh and blood?

1 The bible speaks in different languages and it is important to know them. Here Jesus is in essence saying that He is the essence of all life. He in not saying that we need to gather around his and chew on his arm.
#2 Saul was converted on the road to Damascus and God later changed his name to Paul. Why did God convert him? Why not?

Paul's name was Saul. Jesus was saying that if you believe that he came to earth and died for your sins that after you die your earthly death you will live forever with him in heaven.

i do no longer be responsive to or understand the place this way of question (whether it extremely is a question) comes from. What horribly mangled piece of guidance triggered this way of junk? We do have faith in each and every notice that proceedeth from the mouth of God. The welfare device advantages those of our members who're having no longer ordinary circumstances; even though it additionally advantages non-members. you haven't any concept what you're conversing approximately whilst it involves the Church welfare device. We have faith in and view from the comparable King James version of the Holy Bible which you do. we don't stay with the aid of bread on my own. I surely have not gained help from the church in view that i replace into newly divorced and not receiving any new child help; and with a view to acquire it, I helped clean the church, and did different issues to "earn" my information. I surely have additionally contributed to the welfare device with quickly alternatives, working in dry %. canneries, weeding farm fields, making quilts, hats, hygiene kits, new child kits, academic kits, and so forth. I gave out a lot of candy at Halloween - the two at artwork and at homestead, and don't worship something on that very "commercial" holiday. you should get some data earlier you ask this way of question. addition: you're patently particularly ignorant approximately LDS ideals, LDS charity to the worldwide, and the gospel plan. we don't do any of the "issues" you accuse us of, and your rant serves purely to make human beings look into the church extra, and make you look silly. You do your self a severe disservice; yet flow good forward - you would be responsive to the reality sooner or later.

6:51 If any eat of this bread - That is, believe in me: he shall live for ever - In other words, he that believeth to the end shall be saved. My flesh which I will give you - This whole discourse concerning his flesh and blood refers directly to his passion, and but remotely, if at all, to the Lord's Supper.
