I had my twins off the bottle by the time they were 11 months old... For me it was easy. I just took the bottle away completely and threw them all away. That way I am not tempted to give it back. Your son will drink out of the cup when he is thirsty enough. Now he knows that if he doesn't drink out of it mommy is going to give in and give him his bottle...

Our son was on the bottle until 14 months, mostly because he would not drink milk at all, and he would not drink formula out of a cup.
To start, only give him a cup when it is an 'extra' drink, like juice or milk, not formula. Only put formula in the bottles, everything else, put in a cup. When he wants something other than formula, he will learn to use the cups.
But, I would hang onto the bottle until he knows how to use the cup well and understands the difference. Then, just tell him he is a big boy and only babies need ba bas. It worked for our son.
The 1 yr old mark is not set in stone, its just a guideline. If your child does not know how/does not yet want to use a cup, it makes no sense to throw away your bottles. Good luck!

You just gather up the bottles and only give him water in them and other things in a cup. Or you gather the bottles and throw them away. Yes, he will be angry for a few days. It is a comfort that he has known all his life. He will adjust though and you will just have to tell him they got lost. Most kids even at a year have got a good idea about what lost is. Substitute the bottle with a soft stuffed toy he can hug or a blanket that he can use as a substitute lovey. You are going to have to listen to him cry for a day or two but "this too shall pass"

Sounds like the "Bottle Fairy" needs to come to your house, to take all the bottles to give to the new little babies. Gather them up, and leave them for the Bottle Fairy. In the morning, there will be a prize for your boy.
It still might take him a few days to adjust, but if you
1) get rid of them and
2) try to make it fun,
hopefully things won't get too ugly.
Good luck!

I agree with Brandy, get rid of the bottles entirely, then he will not have a choice.
