Can we improve the cash for clunkers?
Would it not be even better if the new car lots could pass the good clunkers on to the used lots for a donation to the charities that missing out on the donated cars and the destruction of an even less fuel efficient, polluting clunker. That way the charities aren't falling short and those who can only afford a used car are still getting decent vehicles. I thought this was a no-brain-er.
No one said anything about turning them over to charity. And there is always less fuel efficient, even older cars on the used car lots which are not being destroyed. Try reading what I have written, then think a little. Low income families, first time young car buyers, and charities are suffering from this green movement that could be used to get even worse vehicles out of circulation.

Uhmm.. Exactly what fuel efficient clunker qualifies for cash for clunkers? Or what is your definition of "good" if it is fuel efficient, then you don't understand what cash for clunkers is.
Clunkers get less than 18mpg.

Don't people see that destroying the clunkers is
destroying all the used parts to fix your own cars
and not everyone can afford a NEW car that's why
they drive clunkers in the first place and a clunker is better than nothing.
Just make more fuel efficient trips out & about.
Do those NEW Hummers qualify for the clunkers?

The idea is to get fuel wasting cars off the road permanently. Turning them over to charity is the opposite of what the plan is about.
