How expensive and difficult is to find parking in Chicago?
Im traveling for the U2 concert on Sept.12th and also want to go to Six Flags on Sunday 13th. I'm thinking about staying on a hotel near O'Hare Airport and renting a car since hotels downtown are so expensive so I want to know if it's worth renting the car and paying parking ocassionally or (if it's as expensive as New York) if I should only rent it when traveling to Six Flags and try using public transportation the rest of the time. Any suggestions?

It is expensive and a pain in the neck to park in the area of the city that most visitors go. Take public transportation which is very easy from Rosemont (O'Hare hotels) on the blue line.
Rent a car for the trip to Six Flags but be aware that route is just about completely under construction. You are looking at a 32 mile construction zone plus tolls!

No problem, you just have to know that there's a hotel with free parking in Chicago! The Best Western River North on Ohio St. is right near all the action. Just cab it over to Soldier Field or take a bus. You can go in and out an unlimited number of times at this hotel with your car.

Sounds like a "fun weekend" but your destinations are far from each other. Complicating this is road construction on I-94, the route between them. I suggest avoiding outrageous parking fees and frustration trying to find a place for the concert and crazy hotel parking fees. Take public transportation. Great America will be open on 9/13 from 10 am - 8 pm:

ORD is not close to Great America and there is no easy direct route that avoids construction. A taxi would probably cost $40 each way...forget the hotel near GA.
Check out hotels near Soldier Field and walk there...about 1/2 mile. To get to Great America, which is about 42 miles to the north, take a bus from the hotel to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, From there a METRA train to Waukegan and a PACE bus to the park....less than $10 each way and no parking problems.
Below are some hotels near Soldier Field where U2 will be performing...avoid #6/7:

The other site you will need is for travel. You will find suggested routes and fares. Know the address of the hotel for insertion in the START / END areas. Most popular destionations can be found on the pull-down menus. Be sure to check out the return trip, as the Sun schedule is somewhat limited:

It is really expensive(street parking up to $6 an hour and garages more like $14 an hour.), and traffic will be difficult to navigate. Just take the CTA and you will save time and money.
