same-sex couples to adopt in QLD, what your opinion on the subject?
I think its brilliant, if there's a parent less child that needs a loving home why not right?
and its not true that you need a mother and a father to be brought up right, my father passed away when i was young so i've only been raised by my mum and i'm a good kid. its love and caring that raises healthy kids and there are plenty of crap heterosexual couples that are ruining their kids.
And i also believe that kids couldn't care less about who's raising them a long as they are loved and guided through their life. If a kid did get upset or scared because he might be being adopted by a gay couple it would only be because of who was raising him before had taught him that discrimination is fine and acceptable which clearly is not ethical.
:D
also i am doing a report on this subject for year 12 so it would be good to hear your opinions on this so I know how to approach my topics within the assessment

the fact that it would be a big point of ridicule is enough for me to say its not ok
not because im against gays but that kid is gonna be made fun of pretty bad
and we all know its those kids that commit suicide(not saying ALL of them or even most but its those that are ridiculed that think about it more often)
@ howldine
no one said they couldnt be good parents
i said i was against it because of the ridicule it would bring to the child
my statement so far is the only one against it

I completely agree. Gay couples wanting to adopt should be held to the same level of scrutiny as straight couples who want to, to make sure they can and will give the child a good home, but there is no reason a gay couple can't give a child a perfectly stable and loving home. The *ideal* may be a child being brought up by its heterosexual biological parents together as a couple, but that just doesn't happen for lots of kids, and it doesn't mean kids can't be raised successfully in any other setting. Being adopted by a gay couple could be a lot better than some outcomes that could happen to them.

I don't believe that's a problem really. I think it might develop some weird situations are far as bringing friends over to their house since a large majority of people are brought up to believe homosexuality is bad. But outside of that there isn't a problem I should think.
A lot of the opposition to adoption by gay couples comes from the misguided notion that homosexuality is like a disease, something you can pass on to others. I have also heard people suggest that a child growing up in a household with 2 dads or 2 moms is bound to turn out homosexual, which is ridiculous in itself, but people will be people. As long as there are differences there will be prejudices, I suppose.

You are 100% right - more people should feel the same way you do. Here in California it's more common to see gay families, but it's becoming more "normal" in the US than it was, say, 10-20 years ago. Gays can adopt here (so yes, it's legal) and I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. The people who claim gays will raise their children to be gay are uneducated and homophobic - you can't "teach" gay - you either are or you aren't.

Loving parents that are blue, have 3 arms, 7 flippers, 19 eyes and speak "BLOIK" are better than no loving parents at all.
HOW DARE PEOPLE THINK THAT GAYS CAN'T BE GOOD PARENTS????
Do they think heterosexuality means you can't be a drunk/ druggie/ wifebeater/ kidbeater/ deadbeat???
A S Sh ole Republican God-fearing ( ie: ignorant) snobs don't want gays to adopt. Because if all the orphans went to good gay homes then they couldn't be trotted out on stage for Republican fundraisers anymore. ( and then they couldn't be warped into little red voters )

as long as the kid has at least one parent - there's nothing actually wrong about the situation.
if you dont mind me asking though ... is it actually legal? just curious...
