Leave NYC or what the hell should i do with life?
ok 32 yrs old. Born and raised in NYC whole entire life in a small italian community where everyone looks after everyone and says goodmorning.
That was 20 yrs ago.
Now with all these emmirgrants and foreigners and even american yuppie transplants from other states....NO one acknowledges anyone on the block in the community. You can see the same person 2 times a day for years and they will refuse to say hello or make an attempt to be polite. They just nod their head and ignore your existence. When you have a problem , no one will help.
I finished college here 9 yrs ago and im a teacher part time.. I dont know if i want to teach here. Actually i dont. The schools are crap and the kids have all the rights.
I find it virtually impossible to make friends here. I have no friends , just a few acquaintences i will call every couple months to go out to McDonalds for a burger and thats it. Every last person i meet here and make a friendship with will use you, get what they want and ignore you.
Every last person i met here in 32 yrs just wants a free ride or to network from you but dont give a **** about you when your in need. They are like hamster parasites in a cage. lol
I been to other places in the US and every last person i met is somewhat polite, will help and does give a damn about your welfare.
What makes NY kers so damn arrogant and miserable to the point its fustrating.
And what the hell should i do with my life and where should i go?
I think im just going to pack my car and head out west in a week or so.
I cant take the coldness of the people here.
I feel like a doctor in a psychatric ward .
To the Tools at the bottom of the page, that gave me retarded responces....
your a true example of this question ...you make it bad for the good newyorkers ...
go get hit by a taxi please

Why are New Yorkers like this? It goes against psychological principles. The more stimuli people are bombarded with, the more they will recede into themselves and ignore others. Another reason, the special difficulties of life in NY. The small apartments, fighting for a seat on a bus or a table at a restaurant, then add the cost of living to that. Overpopulation. So of course people are going to be uptight. Look at where you live!
I also think it's good for people to get out of their comfort zone.. if you've been in this area all your life it'd be a great experience to live elsewhere. And you hating it just confirms that it's time to leave NY.
Consider moving to a cheaper, slower city,
Do you have other places in mind? If so, research that city and get all the information you can.
Life is too short. If you find yourself unhappy where you are at, move.
Plain and simple.
*Ignore the rude remarks you got from a couple idiots on here* They must live in New York. lol

You'll never get away from some of that completely, unless you make a drastic change (go live in the woods or something). My advice is to look into relocating to a small country-type town. I can't tell you where - that's up to you. Even still, you will find people with small minds. There are other alternatives which would put you in a different country, too. You don't say what you teach, but there are programs to go teach in other countries and you don't need to know their language in many instances (English being the second and much used language in many other countries now).
Best wishes to you. I know how you feel.

You should move to the South. I did, and I have found it to be a fabulous place. Everyone is polite. I cant tell you the number of times any random person has smiled big and said good morning to me. They are all full of joy and it starts to catch on. Maybe around the South Carolina/Charlotte border area. Thats a great area.

Move to a rural area, like I did. I lived in Maryland for the first nine years of my life. When I was ten, we moved to North Carolina. Every Saturday night in MD, I'd fall asleep to the sounds of dope dealers in our front yard. We went to eat one night, and on our street were these boys on bikes, smoking fat ones. People also vandalized our house. That's when we moved. So much better. No drugs, no violence, and no theft, either. I had better friends than I did in MD. I think you should definitely move to somewhere rural, like I don't know, Tennessee or Georgia or Texas or something like that. It's a big change, though. Hope you find a place you like.

People find it hard to believe me when I say this world is all screwed up. It's not "normal". This world is falling further into ruin, and the only way out of it is Jesus Christ.
Whatever normal is, it's eternal. I truly believe that. This world is temporary, and not "normal". God promised a life in eternity with Him, but we have to trust Him for what He said about that. Jesus being the way to have peace with God.
God has told us what normal is. It's a world living close to Him, He not being invisible to us anymore, no wars, everyone is related and there is no sin around in anyone. That is normal to me. And that is where I am going.

Find a small town where they need teachers. Do some research and check out some new areas.
Don't forget that you are also a product of your life experiences and where you live.
You say You 're different from the others there but take an honest look at yourself before you leave.

Listen dude, get out while you can.
You are just going to rot there if you don't make the decision to get out of that hell hole.
I visited my aunt who lives in Brooklyn and I hated it. The people there suck and are rude up the ***. I would never in a million years live there. I even have a hard time visiting my aunt!
Good luck man!
HEY VICTORIA! SHOW ME YOUR 'SECRET' LOL.

Your problem is with population, not 'foreigners' and 'immigrants'.
Find a nice small town community to re-start in. I'm sure that they would be in need of teachers.
Most small towns do acknowledge each other in the manner you crave.
