Why do people hate turks?
I don't see a good reason other then prejudice. just because a group of people, no matter how big, is bad it doesn't mean they are all bad. This is the exact problem people have against muslims, just because they are muslim they AUTOMATICALLY say that they are terrorists. Terrorists are just extreme believers in to Koran and believe the Koran is the only law book. So just because some Turks are bad by doing some things, or even if its a rumor, it doesn't mean its true or that all turks are bad. How would you like it if they say ALL americans are murders, liars, greedy, power hungry and harm the planet? or if they say the french can never commit to anything because they have surrendered in war a lot. or all the british are ugly and have bad teeth. and so on and so on. STOP JUDGING PEOPLE WHY THE SMALL GROUP YOU SEE, for all you know they could be the thieves, the poor, or the mentally unstable(no offense intended).
I don't mean all people. its just some people don't like turks for any good reason. and i don't hate turks nor like them because i don't know any or have any reason to hate them so im, i would say, neutral with the turk thing.
LOOK PEOPLE I DONT HATE TURKS. I know a game called Silkroadonline and EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in the game takes turks they say " no turks here" "no turks allowed" and so on. i asked them why do they hate them and they reply with childish comments without valid proof. so for you people that say i hate turks think again cause i dont see a reason to hate them.

All of the comments give some insight to the situation at hand. I would like to give an example from literature to make my case. The greatest figure in English literature and one of the greatest in all western literature, William Shakespeare's Othello is a tragedy that is set mostly in Venice and more importantly Cyprus, under the attack of Turks. Othello who used to be mercenary for the Venetian army is now a general in the effort against the Ottomans. He is Othello the Moor, in other words, a North African with dark skin.
Othello is despised by most Venetians if his military success is put aside and regarded as an animal and a paragon of brutality. And he is also the one who says this:
And say besides, that in Aleppo once,
Where a malignant and a turban'd Turk
Beat a Venetian and traduc'd the state,
I took by the throat the circumcised dog,
And smote him thus.
Here we see, the mercenary, who is despised for his brutality, saves a Venetian from the oppression of a Turk and describes Turk as a circumcised dog. If you think about it for a minute, you will see that there is a strange play on ideas. Shakespeare did not choose a Venetian to curse at Turks, he did not choose a white European, instead chose quite the opposite, who is himself an outcast in Europe.
Looking at the psyche of the author and the audience, this whole contrast shows that Europeans regarded Ottomans as a threat that cannot be defeated by themselves. They thought rising in such a short time was not possible for a human as this was beyond a human feat. This does not mean that Europeans were more human in terms of civility (just remember the Crusades, Christian army turned Constantinople, Byzantine capital, into a ruin looting it for 40 years), it just means they had less self-confidence.
After the unsuccessful siege of Vienna by the Ottomans, Europeans realized that they created a far more powerful image of Ottomans in their minds than the Ottomans really were. It was possible to defeat Ottomans. So, self confidence started to develop and the grudge of centuries added fuel to the fire. In order to keep their strengths, European ideology put anti-Turkish sentiment into its center. Once prejudice is established, it would take forever to clear it off of the people's minds.
The grudge continued till the WWI. Turkey was supposedly dissolved and denominated according to the power of each European state. This time a last push made Turks aware that since the Siege of Vienna, they have been failing not because of their fate, but lack of self-confidence. With the establishment of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal literally ended the grudge, by turning Turkey towards a western ideal.
Now, neither Turkey nor Europe are continuing on with this millennium old struggle; however, the deposits of the past hatred are woven into the fabric of western societies in such a way that it will take centuries to rid the prejudice away.

You have a brilliant answer from Ibrahim. However, I will try my version.
You are making a generalization in your question and coming from that point it sounds very ignorant. There are some people hate Turks, maybe because of the Ottomans were very strong and gained a lot of victories, ruled many nations across Europe for hundreds of years. The more the Ottomans conquered the world the more nations became fearful of the Turks. After the middle of 16th century the Ottoman Empire lost its strength but the hatred towards Turkish people prolonged generation to generation until today.
On the other hand, speaking of today's society, there are people whose life ruled by media and believe whatever they are told by and judge accordingly. Those, don't like to read much and do research. I am not certain if they really want to know about other cultures either. Perhaps, they might not even have a rich culture like Turkey has and thus be envy towards Turkey and Turks and keep the negative attitude.

People hate turks because of there Background. In the video game you are playing, I guess Turkish people are annoying. Like the Russians. I don't hate Turks. just the Turkish government and anyone who supports it. Most people don't hate turks, just the government.

Only certain people from a certain background hate Turk's. That is mostly because we did wrong things to their decendants long ago. People who still hate Turk's are simply racist. I believe all of us here hate Hitler but why should we hate all German's because of him? Also although people still burn Turkish flags in countries like Armenia, I never saw any Armenian flag being burnt in Turkey all my life. Every country has done things they should be ashamed of at some point.

1st of all you are wrong, I do not think that most of the Greek people hate Turkish people. Unfortunately some of them still hate us becoz of the problems in the past. 2nd, it would be better for you to ask a question like "Turks, do u hate foreigners?" in the category Türkiye. You have to interest in Turkish peoples ideas about foreigners if u will visit Türkiye. I m sure all the answers will be "NO". I love Greeks, Italians, Germans, English, Americans, Arabs, Asians, every citizen in the world except frenchs. Good luck and enjoy Türkiye...
