Commercial Ownership Vehicle?

I want to buy a 2004 E55 AMG. On the CarFax report, everything looks fine with two previous owners. But, the first owner is listed as commercial ownership. Is that something bad? Under the first owner (the commercial one), there is not any detailed maintenance or odometer reports except one for 2 years after the purchase date. Does that mean that the first owner did not care about the car at all or is it just a myth?

Commercial can mean two things. It was registered under a company name (not an individual) or it was a corporate lease.

Not having any maintenance records during the first two years is not at all strange. Carfax will only shows change of ownership or repairs done at an authorized repair facility (like the dealer). If the owner used an independent garage for all his oil changes and routine maintenance it will not show up on Carfax (unless the garage chooses to report it).

If you want to know if the previous owner took care of the car take it to a certified MB repair shop for a complete pre-purchase inspection. They can tell you how well the car was treated.
